A few years ago, we began weekender camping adventures with friends. A group of 8 adults and 11 minions, we usually go through upwards of 100 bandaids, at least 40 packets of crisps and approximately of 8kgs of chocolate.

On one of our first adventures, because the weather was going to be cool, I threw in flannelette shirts for layering. They were somewhat “fashion” at the time and cheap, thus purchased some as I thought they would be good for camping.

When we arrived and were set up, the evening breeze started, perfect for the lightness of a flannelette shirt. And before we knew it, all the adults had layered up in flannelette shirts! It was hilarious. Especially as the beverages were flowing by then and the flannelette shirt is an interesting clothing item at the best of times.

Ever since, no trip is complete without throwing in the old flanno for layering… even though its not the 80s…
